Privacy policy — Travelwind
Last updated: September 5, 2026
This policy describes which personal data Travelwind processes when you create an account and use the app, and what rights you have under the GDPR.
1 Who processes your data
Travelwind is offered by the party named on the About and Contact pages, based in the Netherlands. For any question about your data, use the contact form.
2 What data Travelwind collects
Account data: email address, name (optional), password (stored hashed, never readable), preferred language and theme.
Trip data: the trips, days and activities you enter yourself, including any locations you attach to an activity.
Technical data: IP address and time of login attempts (to prevent abuse), and error messages in server logs.
Payment data: if you choose a paid plan, Mollie processes the payment; Travelwind itself never stores card or account numbers, only the outcome (paid, amount, date) for bookkeeping and your invoice.
3 What for
To make your account work and store your trips; to let you share trips with whoever you invite; to prevent abuse (too many login attempts); to handle and invoice a paid plan; to email you about your account (confirmation, password reset, payment confirmation) — no marketing email unless you opt in separately.
4 Location data
Travelwind only asks your device for your location when you tap "Nearby" yourself. That location is used to search the surroundings and is not tracked continuously or reused later without you tapping the button again.
5 Who else sees your data (processors)
Mollie B.V. to process payments (Mollie is itself the controller for the payment data it processes on Travelwind's behalf).
The hosting provider that runs Travelwind's server and database, within the EU.
If you chose your own language-model provider (Google, OpenRouter, or your own Ollama server) for AI advice: that provider receives the question and the anonymous list of places, never your name or account data.
6 Cookies
Travelwind uses a session cookie to keep you logged in and a cookie to remember your light/dark preference. No advertising or tracking cookies. This site (the promo pages) uses at most a cookie to remember your language choice.
7 Retention
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account (see below), your trips and personal data are removed, except for what the law requires to be kept (for example invoice data, for tax retention rules).
8 Your rights
You can export your entire trip as a JSON file at any time, from the app's settings. For access, correction, account deletion, or a complaint: get in touch through the contact form. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
9 Changes
If anything material changes in this policy, we update the date at the top.
